I've always liked reflections and whenever I get the chance I'll take a picture of it. Some people don't like these at all and find them something of a cliche but I don't really care. I also believe that people should take pictures for their own pleasure and not for praise from other people.

The following 4 or 5 images are from my summer holiday and all are images of reflections.

This is the final image in this series on the Voigtlaender Heliar 75 f2.5. This lens is no longer in production but there is the newer 75 f1.8 version which is a bit larger than the f2.5 version. Personally I don't require f1.8 so I opted for the older version. I'm really glad I did because of size and it was a lot cheaper than the f1.8 version.

This images shows how big these barges are. I love it.

This last image was converted in Lightroom and shown the Menai Brigde connecting Anglesey with the rest of Wales. I like black and white images so I thought this one deserves to be on the photoblog. I must do more of this (reminder to self).
Of course, if you would like a black model with a red dot on it (i.e. Leica) and pay a couple of hundred more for it you can. It's called the Dlux-5, same camera just re-badged. May have the Leica firmware on it allowing them to process the images a little differently, but basically it's the same camera.

This is using the native 4:3 format. If you look at the shadows on the wall to the right and center you can still see some detail. Nice for a sensor this size.

Using the one to one format brought out the best here. There's a lot of dynamic range in this image but I could easily bring back detail from the sky and shadows at the bottom of the image.

I think this image shows how much detail can be captured with this sensor. I brought out some more detail using Lightrooms clarity function. Those people at Adobe are just geniuses. Again in 16 x 9 format.

The previous image was taken in 16 x 9 format as a jpg image. This one is also in 16 x 9 format but taken in raw format. I just prefer the control you have in raw and tend to use that format 99% of the time. One thing I like about the LX5 is the change format dial on the lens I do use it quite a bit. I tend to take multiple images of the same scene using all the formats available and then I'll select the one I prefer most.

In the last couple of years I just haven't considered P&S cameras. Reason being the small sensor used,slow to focus, shutter lag and of course image quality. I still have a couple around the house but I rarely use them unless...either I'm going somewhere where I just can't take my other systems because they're not allowed or it's not appropriate for instance. One camera that has really surprised me though is the Panasonic LX5. I bought this because I can use the same EVF as on the m4/3 cameras I have. True enough, the EVF is not the best out there but I think it's good enough for my purposes. What I just cannot do is make pictures holding the camera at arms length. I just can't and that is final. If a camera doesn't have one I just won't buy it.
I just want to show a few images taken with the LX5 taken on a very windy and blustery day.
