A word of advice with these older lenses, don't let the sun get too close to the front of the lens, you will lose contrast. I've experienced this with quite a few of the 135mm lenses and I've still got a couple to test. They all experience the same thing. If you have the sun behind you then the image quality is excellent. See the image in todays post. You can get this lens for very little and there are a lot of them out there on the market.

06/20/12 SMC Pentax-M 135 f3.5 on the Nex-5N2332
NEX-5N Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/500 sec ISO: 100 06/19/12 SMC Pentax-M 135 f3.5 on the Nex-5NBack to using manual focus lenses again. This is one I've been trying to test for months now but didn't have the time to do it. Very compact, very good build quality and in nearly perfect condition. If you want to see more images from this lens there is a small gallery here. It can deliver some very pleasing images but you will have to get used to focusing. The longer the focal length the less the depth of field. You focusing has to be good. I'm still practicing. 1745
NEX-5N Focal Length: unknown Aperture: f/1.0 Exposure Time: 1/800 sec ISO: 100 06/17/12 The Sony SEL 18-55 Kit LensThis is the last of the kit lens images for now. Just in passing, the last five posts were taken with the Nex-7 which produces some beautiful images. That really is a wonderful sensor Sony built into it. 1731
NEX-7 Focal Length: 46 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/320 sec ISO: 100 06/16/12 The Sony SEL 18-55 Kit LensThis is an image that I would be very careful in taking when I know that the lens I'm using could possibly cause some problems. Here I just knew that I would get a nice clean sharp image. I did too, and the colours are pretty much perfect from what I can remember. What amazes me even more is the performance that this has on the Nex-7. 1742
NEX-7 Focal Length: 34 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/160 sec ISO: 100 06/15/12 The Sony SEL 18-55 Kit LensWhen you know you have a good lens I think it really helps you in being bolder with your photography. You tend to take photographs of things you would normally be hesitant in taking. It boost your moral and your confidence goes through the roof. That's what I believe anyway. 2788
NEX-7 Focal Length: 27 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/40 sec ISO: 100 06/14/12 Sony SEL 18-55 Kit LensI was surprised to find that the lens did so well. From the reports I had read regarding the first copies I was quite hesitant about ordering one. Either Sony have done something to the design or have tightened their quality control. I have also read that later copies are indeed better than the earlier ones. 1945
NEX-7 Focal Length: 18 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/250 sec ISO: 100 06/13/12 The SEL 18-55 Kit lensI was so impressed with the kit lens that I put it on the Nex-7 and took it on an outing knowing that I could put it through it's paces. This building requires the image to be perfectly sharp from left to right.
The results were terrific. No doubt that the lens will stay in my arsenal. Great colours too. 1681
NEX-7 Focal Length: 25 mm Aperture: f/5.6 Exposure Time: 1/500 sec ISO: 100 06/01/12 Leica DG Summilux 25 f1.4Last image for now from the 25 f1.4. Notice the bokeh here, quite nice I think.
That look I'm getting int his image is the "Ok, that's enough" look. I've come to know it quite well recently when I'm using my wife as a model because she's the only other person around. I tend to sneak a picture in once in a while when she's not expecting it. Problem is, she knows me too well. 2671
E-P3 Focal Length: 25 mm Aperture: f/1.4 Exposure Time: 1/4000 sec ISO: 200 05/31/12 Leica DG Summilux 25 f1.4I just had to take this image. When my better half bought these it really ticked me out. Well you can't miss her anyway. I'm astounded however about how many women come up to her to comment on the great shoes that she's wearing, and many asking where she bought them from. This must be a woman thing because I've never seen men do that.
Anyway, just look again how sharp this image is. I think this is going to get used quite a lot, together with the Olympus 45 f1.8 which is just as sharp. Two great partrait lenses which I will be showing a couple of post in the next few days. 1920
E-P3 Focal Length: 25 mm Aperture: f/5.6 Exposure Time: 1/160 sec ISO: 200 05/30/12 Leica DG Summilux 25 f1.4This is a good example of framing. Notice you have a frame within a frame within a frame? And it was taken with the 25 f1.4 lens. Really marvelous. Not in the square format this time though. 2091
