Texture IV

Back to texture after a short break in the previous entry.
Here again you can see how brittle some of these rock formations are. I've still got a couple more of these images still to post. I did a small study when I was there last and I think the future will bring more of these sort of images. When taking these, I get so engrossed in the making of them that time seems to fly.

Looking at this image I can't help feeling that the rock is covered in fur. In reality it's a very thin crust of fine sand/dust. As can be seen the rock structure is not really stable, and small avalanches can be seen at the side of the roads here (in Andalusia) after every rainfall. Road / track repair is a never ending story, and can be considered a job for life.

Texture II

Here's number 2 in the series. Once I really started to look for these things I couldn't stop. All at once I could see texture everywhere. It was really great. Getting closer to everything is now on the agenda when I go out looking for images. More to come!

I decided to get in close to some rocks on my visit to Spain. It's really is amazing what you see when taking a telephoto lens to get in close to something. I suppose you don't really see this when you are just walking by.

Cross Processing

Cross Processing

It's not just about taking photographs and leaving them on my computer. I think I'm one of the lucky ones that also enjoy postprocessing. I'm not an expert at this by all means but sometimes I produce something I like. This is one of those times. It's a simple coversion from yesterdays image to a colour negative and a negative. Actually, I prefer them to the original image. The hills can now be seen clearly and that lone cloud at the top center. I just like it the way it is. All put together into a triptych frame. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Lone Cloud

Lone Cloud

This is one image that I like. The mountain range in shadow and the one lonely cloud above. There was harsh light but I could see this hills (well they are bigger than you think) in the backgroud between two others that were totally in shadow. I like it but maybe I should have underexposed a little more.
The next two images to follow in the couple of days will show what fun it can be to play around with images like this one. I believe this to be my favourite from the trip.

Sierra Nevada, Spain

Sierra Nevada, Spain

I took this panorama of the Sierra Nevada mountain range from the the Al Hambra in Grananda. It was quite hazy at the time but I think it's acceptable, especially since it's the only one I have.

Cloud Cover II

Cloud Cover II

You can actually see wherer the light is hitting the ground through the breaks in the cloud. I just find these things amazing. Again, from way above, you see things that you just don't think about when on the ground below. I just love it.

Cloud Cover

As promised, just a couple og images of cloud cover while flying south for a couple of days. Clouds look completely different from above. They have shape and volume that you just cannot see from beneath.

Lone Tree

Lone Tree

Spotted this lone tree growing along one of the many paths traversed to get to mountain top. Photographing this gave me a good excuse to stop and have a breather. I just like the gree against the very blue sky. What I have noticed is that a blue sky is not just a blue sky. In southern countries the blue seems to be a deeper shade of blue. I prefer it to the blue of the northern European countries. I try and take in everytime, but it impresses me again the next time I see it.
