This is the last for now. But I must remind you all these images were taken within a matter of minutes of each other. Always keep your camera handy and take lots of images. Not all will be successful or great but I'm sure many will. Just keep in mind when taking a photograph, you have to ask yourself what drew you to hold the camera to your eye in the first place.

01/02/12 Dramatic Cloud Formations IVYou can see here the lower cloud formations being swirrled around by the gusting wind. For those of you who have been looking at the images posted here, you will know that I have a weakness for cloud formations and I'm always looking out for them. This is just another series of images taken going through life always looking up. Some people think I'm nuts, I'm sure of it. 1268

01/01/12 Dramatic Cloud Formations IIII jujst love the way the upper cloud formations are being illuminated here with the lower dark clouds moving in very fast beneath it. 1193

12/31/11 Dramatic Cloud Formations IIIf you look carefully at this image you will see some colour shift and posterisation. This is caused when downsampling for web in Photoshop. Not nice I know, but it's not there in the full sized image.
This was taken with the same combination of Nex-5N and CV 50 f1.5 lens. It was taken within seconds of the image in my previous post. 1234

12/30/11 Dramatic Cloud Formations IWe've been having autumn weather lately in December. It's the kind of weather I really can't say I like. Damp, wet, cold, just plain stay-at-home weather. Yes I know, I should be out and taking some dramatic images in this weather. Shame on me.
However, I'm always looking out the window when we get this sort of weather and most of the time there are some dramatic cloud cover to photograph. This day was no exception with strong winds and some sun just peeking over the horizon before going down altogether. Some of the cloud formations were being illuminated through the cloud layers. Had my Sony Nex-5N handy so I snapped away quite happily. 1296

12/27/11 Camera and Lens RecommendationSomebody asked me today to recommend a new lens for an old Canon 10D camera. He wanted a lighter version of the one he had for general outdoor photography. I asked him if it had to be a lens for this ageing camera and he answered with a no. What I did recommend was this combination of an Olymus E-PL1 and the mZD 14-150 lens. I seem to have taken this combination with me on vacation quite a few times and it has always given me pleasant images. I'm really pleased with this combination. However, wheather he takes my advice is another question altogether.
BTW, these can be has on ebay for a pittance, and for those who are thinking about something like this, go for it. A refurbished unit plus the lens will cost you no more than a €250. 1161
E-PL1 Focal Length: 75 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/640 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • mzd 14-150 • E-PL1
12/07/11 SunsetAs I look at this image the first thing I see is some banding in the colours between the hills and the moon. Shame really because it is not there in the original image. A product of downsizing for web in jpg format I suppose. Taken in the Black Forest region of Germany during a September break. 1295
E-PL1 Focal Length: 135 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/160 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • m4/3 • mZD 14-150 • E-PL1
12/06/11 ArchitectureTaken at a very picturesque little village at the base of Koenigsburg Castle (can be seen in the background). There are dozens of these villages in the area, surrounded by massive vineyards. This region is one of the driest regions experiencing dry, cold winters and hot summers. Perfect weather for grape vines.
One could spend a lifetime photographing this region as there is so much to see. 1352
E-PL1 Focal Length: 47 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/200 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • m4/3 • mZD 14-150 • E-PL1
11/06/11 Reflections VThis one is similar to the image from the a couple of days ago. It also shows that you can get more than one image from the same location, just slightly different but never the less a diffferent image. 2053
E-P3 Focal Length: 22 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/60 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • reflections • mzd 14-150 • e-p3
11/05/11 Reflections IVOk, I admit, a lot of people take images like this one but I lke taking them for myself anyway. Just because a lot of other people take pictures like this one doesn't necessarily negate you taking one. 2836
E-P3 Focal Length: 14 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/200 sec ISO: 200 • Olympus • E-P3 • mzd 14-150 • reflections
