I underexposed this shot to ensure I got the ship as a silhouette. Turned out quite nice I thought. Again the combination of the Nex-5N and the CV 15 f4.5 proved to be an awsome combination.

I like the different shades of blue in this image. I also find it a very sensual photograph. If you can't see what's at the bottom, it's a large wind farm. Printed out these are quite visible and the print looks very good. The Nex-5N really does bring out some nice detail, especially if a good lenses are used. I'm slowly finding it easier to manual focus rather than depend on the cameras AF.

I just love the way the sun highlights the clouds in this image. This is as high as the sun got during the daylight period. I have to admit, the Nex-5N is much better with RF lenses than the Nex-7. No colour cast at all. I'm also finding it difficult to tell the images apart. If I held up the same image from taken by the two camera I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Perhaps when printing large prints the detail would give the Nex-7 away, but apart from that, I don't the difference is noticeable.
What actually drew me to the Nex-7 was the ergonomics not the resolution. For my usage 16MP is more than enough, and I believe it's enough for most users.

Some people looking at this photograph will not believe that the pink colour is real. Let me assure you, it is real. Nothing was added or changed in this image. These are indeed the colours that were experienced on this voyage. Now, let's discuss a little about the crew on these ships. I have to admire them. I was out on deck looking like Michelin man with only my eyes uncovered. This guy came out to hoist the flag in just a teeshirt. No gloves, jacket or anything. He was out for about 15 minutes looking like he was just taking in the sun on a hot summers day. It was like he didn't feel the cold at all. I was amazed. Thinking about it though, I suppose they know nothing else and have been doing this for quite some time. Tough guys these.

This photograph shows how low the sun was at this latitude. When you think that the clouds were quite low and the underside were catching some great light. Some days the sun would just peak over the horizon but we never really saw it. Quite fantastic. Must be great in the summer when the sun never really sets. Hmm, could that be an excuse for another trip? Just look at the different colours and hues you have int his image, simply marvelous I think.

Although the Nex-5N has only a 16MP sensor (I hear a couple sniggering at that one) it does allow for a lot of cropping as in this image. Especially if you're shooting for the web. This image will be going into a photo book as well but still the resolution is enough that that too. I seem to cropping a lot of square format images these days too.

This is the first time that I saw the ocean do this as well. Just shows the great difference in temperature between the water and the air. This happened only once though so I must think of myself lucky here. Nex-7 and the CV 15 f4.5 delivered again. This is proving to be a great combination, you just have to use Cornerfix with the images to get rid of the magenta cast. Only a couple of seconds more work in processing, that's all. Well worth it in my opinion.

Aurora Borealis, or commonly known as the Northern Lights. We used to get called over the intercom at 2 or 3 in the morning telling us when the Northern Light were present. I'm not certain how many people have actually seen the lights but more often than not you don't see the lights with this intensity. We could tell that there was something different in parts of the sky but the intensity was missing. It looked different on the LCD however. People looking at these photographs swore they didn't see what I had captured. I suppose the camera can capture light from a different light spectrum to the human eye. I'm pleased with some of these photographs because I'm not certain if I'll ever see them again. Great experience.

Another one of those images that I could look at for hours on end. I haven't seen that many different shades of pink or magenta in such a short period of time before. It changed within a matter minutes but continued for a couple of hours. The oranges and reds of a sunset seemed to be stronger too (but that could be my imagination). Simply wonderful. The 18-55 kit lens again played it's part here. I think this is the best kit lens I've ever used. The later batch of these lenses seem to be better than the earlier ones. I've seem some terrible photographs from earlier models.

I must admit, this was the first time I saw the ocean freezing. The light was magical and I just can't start to explain it here. I hope the images do it justice. If you have just enough cloud cover then you are guaranteed great light in this region at this time of year. You just have to be out on deck and have some warm clothing on. One tip I can give here is get some gloves that are not too thick and sit quite tight around the fingers. You have to wear them and use the camera at the same time. If you don't have any gloves on, your fingers will fall off within a very short period of time (feels that way anyway).
