Nex-7 and the 18-55 kit lens again. This was one of the best sunsets seen on the whole trip. This is also the last image from this series from Norway. I hope that you've found them to your liking and of course, any feedback would be welcome.

NEX-7 Focal Length: 45 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/640 sec ISO: 800 04/28/12 Sony Nex CamerasThis is another one of these scenes that take your breath away. Taken with the Nex-7 and 18-55 kit lens. The Norwegian coast is simply stunning, and I can only recommend it to all. Perhaps not in winter but you do have more room as it's too cold for a lot of people. If you are planning a trip with the Hurtigruten Line then March, April or May would be the best months. In summer the ships are simply too full. 1934
NEX-7 Focal Length: 55 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/200 sec ISO: 400 04/27/12 Sony Nex CamerasOn the second week I decided to swap lenses, meaning I used the Nex-5N with the prime lenses and test the 18-55 kit lens on the Nex-7. Worked out great actually. I might get the 55-210 for the Nex-7 as well seeing it copes well with these lenses. As a bonus you don't get any purple fringing with the RF lenses on the Nex-5N. Less work in post-processing images.
About the image: These mountains, or mounain range is called the Seven Sisters. The tale goes that the Trolls of Norway had to be inside before sunrise, unfortunately during one trip they didn't make it back in time to their cave and so were cought by the first rays of the sun. And, as everyone knows trolls are turned to stone when touched by the suns rays, and so were these seven sisters. 2402
NEX-7 Focal Length: 21 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/160 sec ISO: 400 04/26/12 Sony Nex CamerasWe were lucky enough to see the Aurora Borealis on a number of occasions. Normally we would get woken up at some ungodly hours ( 2 a.m.) to go out on deck and have a look. Really not easy to take these images in pitch black and travelling at a mean speed of 15 knots. This was taken with the Nex-5 and the CV 15 f4.5. Set the aperture to f8 and the focus at just under 2m. Focus should then be ok for everything to be in focus. Problem was, a tripod doesn't help in these situations because of the ship movement. All these images of the Northern Lights were taken hand held. 1896

04/25/12 Sony Nex camerasThis image is all about the one cloud being highlighted by the setting sun. I didn't want just the cloud in the sky and needed something at the bottom. Rather than having a lot of water in the foreground I decidd just to include a little of the mountains to offset any dead space.
I'm still imressed with these cameras and how well the 18-55 kit lens works on both the 5N and the 7. The resolution and detail from the Nex-7 is really impressive aswell. 1762
NEX-7 Focal Length: 38 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/640 sec ISO: 400 04/24/12 Sony Nex CamerasThis is a variation on the previous image. Takes a little later the sun is just about to dip out of view again. I like the starburst effect here that I don't really see all that often in my images. I think I stopped the CV 15 f4.5 lens down quite a bit here as there was no problem with slow shutter speeds. It was also taken in 16:9 format. Something different that 3:2 or 4:3 format. Just like my preference for the square format I do a lot of landscape work now in the 16:9 format. It does open your eyes and you do tend to slow down and look what's in the viewfinder. 1722

04/23/12 Sony Nex CamerasI underexposed this shot to ensure I got the ship as a silhouette. Turned out quite nice I thought. Again the combination of the Nex-5N and the CV 15 f4.5 proved to be an awsome combination. 1684

04/22/12 Sony Nex CamerasI like the different shades of blue in this image. I also find it a very sensual photograph. If you can't see what's at the bottom, it's a large wind farm. Printed out these are quite visible and the print looks very good. The Nex-5N really does bring out some nice detail, especially if a good lenses are used. I'm slowly finding it easier to manual focus rather than depend on the cameras AF. 1557

04/21/12 Sony Nex CamerasI just love the way the sun highlights the clouds in this image. This is as high as the sun got during the daylight period. I have to admit, the Nex-5N is much better with RF lenses than the Nex-7. No colour cast at all. I'm also finding it difficult to tell the images apart. If I held up the same image from taken by the two camera I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Perhaps when printing large prints the detail would give the Nex-7 away, but apart from that, I don't the difference is noticeable.
What actually drew me to the Nex-7 was the ergonomics not the resolution. For my usage 16MP is more than enough, and I believe it's enough for most users. 2105

04/20/12 Sony Nex CamerasSome people looking at this photograph will not believe that the pink colour is real. Let me assure you, it is real. Nothing was added or changed in this image. These are indeed the colours that were experienced on this voyage. Now, let's discuss a little about the crew on these ships. I have to admire them. I was out on deck looking like Michelin man with only my eyes uncovered. This guy came out to hoist the flag in just a teeshirt. No gloves, jacket or anything. He was out for about 15 minutes looking like he was just taking in the sun on a hot summers day. It was like he didn't feel the cold at all. I was amazed. Thinking about it though, I suppose they know nothing else and have been doing this for quite some time. Tough guys these. 1773
