For years now, actually ever since I can remember, I wanted to own a Leica camera. A genuine Leica that they developed and built (not a rebranded Panasonic). On the other hand I didn't, or wasn't prepared, to pay the premium they're asking for the top models on offer today. Not to mention what they expect to get for their lenses! When the X Vario came out I also wasn't prepared to pay the premium they wanted so I just sat back and waited, and waited, and waited.

For those of you who haven't seen this system, I thought I would just post an image of the X-T1 with the Zeiss Planar 50 f2 ZM T* mounted. This is one of the best manual focus systems I have ever had the pleasure of using. No wonder that everybody (well nearly everybody) loves this camera. I will be posting some more images from thsi system as I get the time to process them. It's a system that will get used quite a lot in the future.

For those interested, it was taken with a Panasonic GX7 with the Panasonic 12-35 f2.8 lens. A system I still have to use extensively.

OK, distortion is a little problem with the lens but use it on a Panasonic body and I don't think you would have a problem. All corrections are done in-body by the software. I believe I've said this before but I'm still having problems with a magenta cast within my Panasonic images. When I first develop them, I don't see it at all, it's only when I come back to the images after a couple of days that I see the cast and I rework the images a second time. I've asked it before but I'll ask again, does someone out there suffer from the same problem. It only happens with my Panasonic cameras.

I'mliking what Panasonic have been bringing out in their lens selection for some time now. I also have their 45-150 f4-5.6 OIS which I got a very good price on (not that it's expensive to start with) and I just couldn't pass on it. There's not a lot of difference in image quality between these two lenses except the 14-140 has of course a greater range. Anyone looking for a very good cheap lens they could do worse than the 45-150 f4-5.6.

While I had this lens I tried it out on the Olympus E-M1 and took it downtown for a test run on a very murky and grey day. Not the best time to do this but I had little choice in the matter. Too many other things to do and places to be. Looking through the images that I didn't delete, they'rew actually quite sharp and contrasty. if it wasn't for the focusing issues I was having with this lens I would have been happy with it. For those that missed my posts about this lens, the problem was inconsistent and inaccurate focusing. I just couldn't trust that the lens had actually locked focus where I wanted it to focus. Sometimes it would show focus lock, but looking at the image on my monitor it was soft, blurry, or generally just out of focus. I just didn't see this when looking through the EVF, and that's the reason I sent it back for a full refund.

Justa nother pretty boring image from this combination. I just love the way this system renders the colours.

Anyone looking for a cheap relative wideish lens for the X system, this lens is really a no brainer because image quality is quite acceptable and the lens is cheap. No excuse for not owning this lens.

Last image from this combination for the time being. This is the ferry over the River Main in Frankfurt, Germany. Focus isn't the fastest on the older Fujifilm models but it's quick enough for this type of image. Focusing is also accurate, which is really important to me.

Just a few images to show what this lens is capable of. It doesn'r matter what you photograph with it, I find the images pop.

It doesn't matter which Fujifilm body you use this lens on, it's just super on all of them.
