Looking back through my cameras I came across the Panasonic GF1 and the excellent Panasonic 14-45 f3.5-5.6 kit lens, so I stuck the lens on the front and took it out for a spin. Notice I bought a hand grip for it from Hong Kong and it fits my hand quite nicely now.
When compared to the Olympus OM-D, you do notice that the dynamic range is not as good on the GF1 but it really is so much fun to use. I think after this initial camera Panasonic lost their way with the release of the GF series. If the GX1 was meant as a replacement for the GF1 then I personally think they didn't quite make it. It might be a good camera but what was on offer didn't attract me enough to upgrade. I'm still waiting for the upgrade and I hope they bring one out with an internal EVF.
I've come to the decision not to buy any more cameras with an external EVF ever again, so that leaves out the new E-P5 Olympus have just brought out. It really does increase the bulk (and expense), and there is no excuse for NOT having an internal EVF as the OM-D shows.
