Even if seem to repeating myself in these posts, I can't remember the last time a camera exited me son much. It is fun to use and the image quality is to die for. The conversions are quick to do without any problems such as banding the sky. I just love these conversions, and is a prelude to much more images being converted.

04/21/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit Lens1034
X-E1 Focal Length: 26.5 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/450 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/20/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensI wnated this one done in landscape format to a little more of the river and the town in the background (for those interested the building going up in the top right of the image is the new European Central Bank) cousing the image to be brighter than the previous two. I wanted to see if the camera could handle the exposure at bottom left. Well, it could and exposure appears to be spot on. 973
X-E1 Focal Length: 26.5 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/450 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens
04/19/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThis second image has been processed with slightly softer tones than the first.
can you tell the difference, I certainly can and it just shows how versatile SFX II is.
Well worth the money. 1038
X-E1 Focal Length: 30.2 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/680 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/18/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThis is the second image which is neary the same as posted a couple of days ago. But I assure you it is a different exposure. Doesn't this kit lens work magic on the X-E1?
What really does amaze me is if you look at the cost of the Fujinon lenses, the price is very reasonable compared to what Olympus and Panasonic are asking for their latest lenses. The Fujinon lenses are literally half the price. An investment that will pay off in the future as Fujifilm further develops their X line of cameras. They can only get better.
Remember, cameras come and go, lenses are forever. 856
X-E1 Focal Length: 30.2 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/680 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • Kit Lens
04/17/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThis is the first conversion which is a little harsher than the second conversion to be posted in a couple of days. Notice how the blacks are pretty deep, but the image doesn't have any burnt out highlight, which is an impotant factor for me when selecting a camera.
Quite a few of the new digital cameras have a habit of burning out the highlights which is something everybody should be looking for. In general I tend to underexpose my images by about 0.3EV. I'm just careful about my highlights and if I do get an image where detail has been lost, I'll delete instantly (unless the image should be in high key). 931
X-E1 Focal Length: 30.2 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/750 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/16/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensOver the next 4 days I'll be posting what will seem to be the same images. They are in fact two separate colour images processed in Nik SFX II slightly differently. The colour images may seen to be the same image but are in fact two different exposures. These were process differently in SFX II, one being a little harsher (the first) than the second B&W image. Personally I prefer the first but many strive for a softer look to their conversions. 833
X-E1 Focal Length: 30.2 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/750 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/15/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensI thought I would post a couple of normal images between the B&W comparison shots, so here's one of those.
I took this shot to see how much CA would appear around all the branches with the sky showing in the background. To my surprise I didn't see any, really, and not only that it actually got the exposure correct. This to me is exemplary, because with my m4/3 equipment some CA would definately shown through in this image. The baloon colours have also been captured true to life. This image again has what effectively ammounts to no post processing being done, just a little sharpening after being downsized. 976
X-E1 Focal Length: 39 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/240 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens
04/14/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensAnother super and near perfect conversion. No problems whatsoever and it didn't take hours to do. Actually it was only a matter of minutes before I got this one the way I like it. I normally prefer a lot of blacks in my images as well as a lot of contrast. If it's one thing I don't like is a monchrome image with a lack of contrast. I think it's what makes a monochrome image. But then, that's just me. 879
X-E1 Focal Length: 23.3 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/500 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • monochrome • X-E1 • Nik • SFX II
04/13/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensJust look at that sky. Simply incredible how it cought the correct colour.
The reason I take my normal 5Km walk through Frankfurt is because of the diversity of motifs I have at hand. It goes from water to buildings and from the sky to a lot of greenery (especially during the summer months). 880
X-E1 Focal Length: 23.3 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/500 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens
04/12/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensI really like these files for B&W conversion. In the past, especially with the old Olympus 12 megapixel sensor, I struggled with banding a lot. Not with this sensor. I can safely say now that this is the best sensor I have worked with in the last few years, and I have worked with a lot (and still do). No banding or discolouration anywhere to be seen. Converting these images is just a dream come true. It saves a lot of time too because you don't have to go back and correct some part of the image that was overseen during the initial conversion. 873
