During the month of January I went on a little cruise holiday to the north of Norway. It turned out to one of the most amazing trips I have ever done. Starting out in Bergen we travelled north, over the tip of Norway and down to Kirkenes, situated not far from the Russian border. As you can imagine, it's quite cold in January when you're in the Arctic Circle. That would be an understatment really. When on the ship travelling at an average speed of 15 knots the wind is really really cold, and trying to photograph scenes when you can't feel your fingers is no fun at all. What really upset me a bit was the amount of darkness one has, or put it another way, the lack of daylight you have during the day. The longest period we had was around 4 hours of daylight in one day.

However, after I got over my initial shock, we had some tremendous light when travelling back down towards Bergen. I would like to share some photographs of that trip with you in the following posts.

This one taken with the Sony Nex-7 and the CV Nokton 35 f1.2 II. An excellent combination which doesn't produce purple colour shifts. Wider lenses are a mess on the Nex-7 so my Nex-5N has been designated my wide angle camera from now on.
