Panasonic LX5

Another from the LX5 taken on the same day. This is not a cropped image, it was actually taken is spuare format. I've been getting quite fond of this format lately.
If you're wondering where that is, it's the Menai Bridge, North Wales which connects Angelsey with the rest of the country.

Panasonic LX5

I'm just getting around to finishing off a lot of images takes during summer and autumn. I just couldn't keep up. This one was taken by the Panasonic LX5 in 16:9 mode. I love how you can change format with this camera. Just turn the ring on the lens mount and there you go, done. Somebody at Panasonic thought about a function. Sometimes you can tell that there was no thought going into some of the functions on a camera. This was quite a surprise to me. just great. Kudos Panasonic!

Again look at the detail and sharpness this camera is capable of. In this image the backgroud separation is even better than the previous image. Very impressive indeed.

This camera has a very small sensor and not really suitable for backgroud separation. However, it does have a fast lens at f1.8 and the image shows what's possible with it. Some out of focus area and the bokeh isn't all that bad.

Really sharp with great detail. Light was muted and even. Perfect for this type of photography.

This little camera is capable of some great images, in good light. In low light it really is terrible. Most of the time no focus is possible and the images are just mush. Terrible is the only word for it. But, if I'm going for a little walk and just want a light camera with me then it's fine. I have some more images from the EX1 that I would like to show in the next post or two.

Panasonic GF-1

Panasonic GF-1

This really is a classic camera. Coupled with the Panasonic 14-45 (which is the sharpest of the kit lenses in my opinion), it's very portable and produces great images.

Another one from the same walk and using the same lens. No IS with these lenses but the high ISO performance of the Nex is really impressive.

Another from the Sony Nex-5N using a Minolta 135 f3.5 manual focus lens. It really is great fun using these legacy lenses, especially with the peaking function offered by this camera. I just can't stop using it.
Really a shame about the Nex-7. What I really want from Nex-7 is the direct control for EC. I use that a lot and it's a bit of a pain using it on the Nex-5N but I'm getting used to it though.

This was taken late afternoon at a local lake. Nothing special I know but the image has something that I really like. I've been impressed with Sony since the A900 (which I still have). Really nice output with those G lenses and I might just buy the Sony adapter for those A-lenses. I've heard it's pretty good with quick phase detect focus.
