This is possibly one of my top three conversions of all time. Just look at the water, the different tones that can be found in there. The skyline is sharp and very detailed and lastly I love how the streking clouds just compliments the rest of the image.

04/28/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensAgain pretty amazing colours, and I had no hesitation in converting this image to B&W.

04/27/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensAnd here is the conversion of yesterdays image. Pretty amazing. 1213
X-E1 Focal Length: 27.7 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/300 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/26/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThere was a lot of detail in this image which is the reason I took it. It's the Staedel Museum in Frankfurt. There are a number of points I wanted to clear-up about this sensor and this image showed me just how good it is. Looking at the buildings facade, there is a lot of detail in there, so how much can it really capture. Well, a lot. Possibly the best sensor I've used to date (I haven't used the Nikon D800 or D800E which are probably better). Secondly, I wanted to see how much CA I would have to correct. If CA would be visible it would show up in the branches of the tree reaching up into the sky on the middle left of the image. Didn't find any at all. It would also probably show on the ramp railings that the couple are walking down in the bottom right of the image. Again, I found none.
So, if anyone out there is sceptical, or sitting on the fence wondering if they should purchase this system, stop sitting on the fence and buy into Fujifilm. It really is a great system. 1299
X-E1 Focal Length: 27.7 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/300 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens
04/25/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThis, to me, is getting close to a perfect conversion (for my taste). It has something of a 3D look to it. The low contrast sky lets the building pop out of the image. It may be difficult to see at this small size, but I'm sure you get the gist of what I'm trying to convey. 1317
X-E1 Focal Length: 37.4 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/600 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/24/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThe next conversion candidate.
I think Franfurt hasn't had a day in the last x number of years, where there was no building going on. Just for once I would like to take a skyline shot of Mainhatten without a crane in it. Whether I'll achieve that before I depart this world is questionable. Just joking. 1100

04/23/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensThe more I play with the B&W conversion, the better it gets. I think you will always have to find the best conversion workflow for your taste, for each camera you have. When using a new sensor this alsways takes some trial and error but then everything comes together and bingo. After that, conversions won't take you long at all to finish. My problem, still, is actually seeing in B&W. This isn't an easy thing to accomplish and really does take a lot of practice, sometimes years. 1245
X-E1 Focal Length: 19.6 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/340 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/22/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensSame ship, same day, different angle. Don't you just love those colours. I think I prefer the Fuji colours to the Olympus which are pretty famous for their colour rendition, especially in their jpg engine. Also notice the dynamic range in this image. No burnt out highlights and no blocked blacks. Simply excellent. 1122

04/21/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensEven if seem to repeating myself in these posts, I can't remember the last time a camera exited me son much. It is fun to use and the image quality is to die for. The conversions are quick to do without any problems such as banding the sky. I just love these conversions, and is a prelude to much more images being converted. 1159
X-E1 Focal Length: 26.5 mm Aperture: f/8.0 Exposure Time: 1/450 sec ISO: 200 • Fujifilm • X-E1 • XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 • kit lens • Nik • SFX II • B&W • monochrome
04/20/13 Fujifilm X-E1 and the XF 18-55 f/2.8-4.0 Kit LensI wnated this one done in landscape format to a little more of the river and the town in the background (for those interested the building going up in the top right of the image is the new European Central Bank) cousing the image to be brighter than the previous two. I wanted to see if the camera could handle the exposure at bottom left. Well, it could and exposure appears to be spot on. 1087
