Fun Photography

A couple I know wanted some images of themselves dancing Tango. They wanted something different too, not only stills but wanted to show movement. I didn't know the venue but figured it could be very low lighting and not much daylight either. I was correct on both counts. Had a really hard time with white balance here. The Panasonic L1 is not known for it's correct white balance settings but since I'm a raw only photographer I really didn't care at the time.

The E-620 seems to have more noise in the images than the E-420 which is another reason I prefer the images from the E-420. I've used the Vario-Elmarit 14-150 f3.5-5.6 on the E-420 a lot and since the lens had ILIS it worked out great. That lens is sharp at all apertures at all focal lenths. It also still retails for some €1100. Quite an asking price but well worth it in my mind.

These images are not great, I just wanted to test how they still do with regard to the new cameras that have been released since I bought these. These orchids happened to be in bloom at the time and they make perfect testing models for this sort of thing. I believe that the Vario-Elmarit 14-50 f2.8-3.5 is one of the best kit lenses ever brought out. I also believe that it killed the sales of the Panasonic DMC-L1 because the asking price was astronomical. People who bought the combination though love it as I do. I've made some of my best images using this combination and with the Panaleica Vario-Elmarit 14-150 f3.5-5.6. I still use them on the L1.

The title suggests that I'm going back many years when I say old, but this camera only come out a few years ago. Of course it's obsolete within 18 months as technology advances at a fast pace. I also have the E-420 which was the model before the E-620 came out. Of the two I prefer the images from the E-420. So why also purchase the E-620? Easy, it has IBIS and the E-420 doesn't.
Going back to a post some days ago when I mentioned that people love to surround themselves with new equipment, both of the above mentioned cameras can make better images than I can make. I decide how the image is taken and with what settings, not the camera. Probably the E-420 would be enough for me but it's that new equipment addiction that pokes it's head out from time to time.

Amazing Colours

Some amazing colours. I have no particular reason for posting this image (taken with the OM-D and mZD 14-150 combination). I just don't seem to see colours like these pretty often.

E-M5 and mZD 14-150 Combination

A bit of an abstract one here. I just liked the clash of coulours between the reds and yellows. Bokeh could be better but I don't have a prime that long and that fast to take a shot like this.

E-M5 and mZD 14-150 Combination

I just keep coming back to this lens over and over again. It's so small and compact and produces great images at either end on the zoom range that I just can't leave it at home. Granted, it's not as good as the Olympus m4/3 prime lenses but there are quite a few times I just cannot zoom with my feet.

Ever watch the clouds go by? I have and do it a lot. Amazing to see how they change so quickly. I always seem to see faces or shapes up there.
This was taken with the Olympus OM-D, a real snappy camera. The lens was the 45 f1.8. Very sharp and a real bargain. If you haven't got it, get it. Fantastic portrait lens and it does a lot of other things pretty well too. The OM-D is a classy camera, very well thought out and very snappy to focus.

Last one for now. You may have noticed that the last three posts haven't any exif data. Don't ask we what happened because I it's the first time this has happened. Everything after this works fine.
