Square Format

Square Format

I like this one. Backlit leaves just after being watered.
I must be getting better at this square format.
Nice light.

Another square image

Another square image

Here's another one. Is it balanced? Still not there but this format has promise. I think I'm going to like this.

Square Format

Square Format

The more I use the square format, the more I like it.
It's not easy to use but slows you down and makes you think more. It calls for symmetry in your images. By that I mean that it has to be balanced. I don't think I'm quite there yet, but I'm practicing.

Still with the Panasonic 14-45

Still with the Panasonic 14-45

The background in this one is a little busy, even though there was enough background separation.
I think this is where mFT are lacking right now. A fast zoom lens!
A 12-60 f2.8 would be a drweam lens on these formats. As seen in this image 45 @ f5.6 is just not good enough. That background needs to be smoother.

Another from the Panasonic 14-45

Another from the Panasonic 14-45

Isn't it amazing. Something so small within an image can immediately draw your attention away from everything else.
Take this image for instance, when I first looked at it, my eyes were autimatically drawn to the red and yellow tulip.
The reason being of course, is that it is different from the rest of the image. It's a one of a kind within the frame and the fact that it's red and yellow combined and the brain registers that it is...different.
That is why you have to be carefull when taking an image. It doesn't matter how small an object is within the frame, if it's red or different in any way, it will draw attention away from the actual image itself (unless that is what was intended in the first place).

Still testing the Panasonic kit lens 14-45 f3.5-5.6

Still testing the Panasonic kit lens 14-45 f3.5-5.6

I'm still pretty impressed with this lens. I don't believe that Panasonic are still manufacturing this lens, which is a shame I think. However, a quick look on ebay shows up quite a few. My advice, if you haven't got one, get one!!
This image was taken one handed with the GF1. Even surprised myself at the quality. Very clear and crist. Nice colours too.

Spring on the march.

Spring on the march.

I like these type of images, especially at this time of year.
It means that spring is finally starting to show her face.
Not long now.

Spring is on the march..!!!

Spring is on the march..!!!

This and the next image are pretty much high key.
Just testing the Panasonic GF-1 with the 14-45 kit lens.
Not bad at all. I find it much sharper than the 14-42 kit lens.
