Monochrome Images

This is Ch√Ęteau du Haut-Koenigsbourg located in the Alsace region of France, just west of the Rhine river. Very impressive indeed. A lot of the castle has been reconstructed over the years (as is still in progress) but still impressive.
The image taken on an E-PL1 and Olympus mZD 14-150 lens (I just like pairing the two and has been up to now my travel combination). Conversion to monochrome done in Nik SFX which gives you endless control over how you want the image to appear. The next couple of images will also be in monochrome, developed in exactly the same way as this one.

Monochrome Images

Monochrome images do have that special something that I find hard to define. This one from the Olympus E-PL1 and the mZD 14-150 was put through Nik SFX which is about the best converter out there today.

Voigtlaender 85 f3.5 adapted for m4/3

Voigtlaender 85 f3.5 adapted for m4/3

An interesting effect here with this lens mounted on an Olympus E-P2. It looks pretty much likethe Diorama filter seen on a lot of new digital cameras. Lens is not bad but I may have to try it on a Nex camera. At this focal length focus is critical and very difficult to do on a m4/3 camera.

Voigtlaender Skopar 50 f2.5

I've been having trouble getting used to this lens and I don't know why. It's a small lens with great build quality. Focusing is smooth and the aperture ring is very light. I've got other legacy lenses in the 50 range and I don't have a problem with them. Maybe I nees dome time with this lens. I haven't got many images that I have kept from this lens but this is one that I like. Focus is where I wanted it to focus and the colours and contrast are ok. Again, I may need to try this out on the Nex-5N.

Pantax SMC FA 31 f1.8

Pantax SMC FA 31 f1.8

This one from the FA 31 f1.8 I like a lot. The sun shon through the leaves to where my wife stood illuminating just her face. I hadf to be quick on this one as it didn't last long, just a few seconds. I was quite surprised how the focusing seems to be bang-on. Practice makes perfect.
I'm going to be trying these lenses out on the Sony-5N pretty soon. I think I'm going to like the result.

The second one above from the Pentax 31 f1.8 was taken to see how the bokeh was on the m4/3 sensor. Looks great to me. I also like the texture and detail seen on the leaves. Quite impressed with the exposure from the E-P3 too. Hardy a thing dome to this image after converting from raw. That's the way I like it.

Pentax SMC FA 31 f1.8

Pentax SMC FA 31 f1.8

I just got around to processing some images from the Pentax 31 f1.8 adapted for the E-P3 m4/3 camera. Since I like to use these lenses wide open, it is sometimes very difficult to nail the focus where you want it, especially at f1.4 or f1.8. The depth of field is so small it takes me some time to get it right. This has caused many a misfocused image rady for the rubbish bin. However, practice makes perfect and that applies here too. The more you pictures you take, the easier it gets but, each lens is different and you have to get used to each one. So, if you are like me, a lens nut, then it takes time to get the best out of each and every lens.
I think I nailed focus here though.

Voigtlaender Color Skopar 35 f2.5

After walking around this place for a couple of hours we stopped and had a coffee..again. Turned out the other couple at the other table were drinking a glass of great looking beer, so we had one too. It was great. I turned to my left and nearly hit my head on this lamp post. Out came the camera and I manually focused on the post. Another great one to see the bokeh quality of the Skopar. Not too shabby either, and that post is plenty sharp.

I was thinking of dinner as I was taking this image. Joking. These chickens were roosting everywhere I looked, very colourful creatures. haven't a clue what they're called though.

Truing to see what kind of bokeh this lens delivers. This is ok as far as I'm concerned. I have a feeling though that in some situations it's not so nice. I'll have to try and dig some of those out to post or I'll just try some more scenes out. I was quite close to this branch and the wife added some more interest in the backgrouns as she was collecting acorns for the wild boars. They seem to love them.
